Guangdong has launched a winter-season initiative aimed at stimulating tourism and consumer spending by linking major upcoming events and holidays, including the 15th National Games, preparations for the 2026 APEC summit in Shenzhen, the winter school break, and the Lunar New Year. The announcement was made at a press conference on November 3rd, with officials describing the campaign as a key measure to sustain domestic demand and support economic growth.
Event-Driven Promotions
Running from November 2025 through March 2026, the initiative combines major sporting and cultural events with province-wide promotions. Visitors can access immersive travel routes integrating sports and sightseeing during the 15th National Games, inbound travel promotions, family-oriented winter study tours, and cultural programs celebrating Chinese New Year traditions. Guangdong will also showcase its local products, cuisine, and leisure activities under five themed consumer brands covering shopping, food, travel, entertainment, and fitness.
Discounts for All
Participants can enjoy restaurant vouchers, hotel discounts, free local transport for accredited Games personnel, and reduced or waived admission to state-owned scenic spots and museums. Purchases of automobiles, electronics, and sports goods are eligible for subsidies, while receipts from retail, lodging, dining, and transport enter province-wide lucky draws.
Convenient for Foreigners
The initiative includes targeted services for international visitors. Guangdong has published inbound travel guides and 10 curated sightseeing routes, with landmark events such as light shows in cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. Duty-free and tax-refund stores will offer limited-time promotions, temporary refund points, and enhanced mobile payment options. Star-rated hotels and commercial institutions will provide packages and exclusive discounts combining sightseeing and local experiences.
During the five months, over 1,000 quality performances and museum exhibitions will be organized across the province, offering both daytime sightseeing and nighttime cultural experiences. International concerts and music festivals will be incorporated, ensuring that foreign visitors enjoy seamless access through optimized ticketing and booking services.
