An international economic and trade exchange event for Maoming's agarwood industry was held at the 140th Canton Fair venue on October 24.

The event featured enterprise presentations, agarwood incense-culture demonstrations and one-on-one business negotiations. Attracting more than 80 international buyers and industry representatives from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas, the event yielded a number of preliminary cooperation agreements.

Dedicated negotiation zones were arranged for Maoming agarwood exhibitors to hold private talks with buyers from home and abroad. Some international purchasers commented that Maoming boasts a large-scale, well-established agarwood industry, with remarkable strengths in germplasm resources and processing techniques. They expressed interest in building long-term, stable trade partnerships. After examining samples and learning about local production capacity, many buyers requested site visits to Maoming, hoping to tour agarwood plantations and processing factories to explore deeper collaboration opportunities.

Known as "China's Hometown of Agarwood," Maoming hosts the country's largest hub for agarwood cultivation, processing and trade. Its product portfolio covers seven categories with over 100 varieties, including daily-use goods and handicrafts. In 2025, the total output value of Maoming's full agarwood industrial chain reached 11.09 billion yuan, with more than 12,000 local businesses operating in this sector.
