Zhaoqing Guangning bamboo-for-plastic substitution products shine at Canton Fair

The phase 2 of the 139th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) is in full swing. Leveraging this world-class trade platform, Guangning County in Zhaoqing City hosted on April 24 the Bamboo Industry Investment Promotion Conference and the "Guangdong Goods Going Global" Guangning Premium Products International Buyers Matchmaking Event.

The event showcased the county's significant achievements in bamboo industry development to the world while facilitating targeted connections with global procurement resources.

Designed as a three-in-one platform integrating industry exhibition, trade matchmaking, and investment cooperation, the event attracted over 100 buyers from more than 20 countries and regions, as well as representatives from more than 10 leading bamboo enterprises. The atmosphere was vibrant, and participants demonstrated a strong willingness to collaborate.

"Green and low-carbon products are an emerging trend in daily life. I have long been searching for marketable bamboo products, and I have finally found them here," said Abas Alrubaaiy, an overseas buyer who spoke highly of Guangning's products. He noted that the products' distinctive designs fully align with the principles of environmental protection and sustainable development.

As one of China's first "Hometowns of Bamboo," Guangning County boasts the largest bamboo resource reserve in Guangdong Province, with a bamboo forest area of 1,080,000 mu (72,000 hectares). Its dominant varieties, Bambusa textilis and Pseudosasa amabilis, place it among the top bamboo-rich regions in China. In 2025, the county's total bamboo industry output value exceeded 6.2 billion yuan. Home to 377 bamboo processing enterprises, Guangning offers over 100 products across 14 categories, including bamboo building materials, bamboo fiber, eco-friendly tableware, and bamboo-based new materials, which are exported to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

Relying on the nationally pioneering large-scale bamboo forest collection and storage mechanism, Guangning has secured 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares) of bamboo forests, ensuring a stable raw material supply. The industry is strategically focused on the "bamboo-for-plastic substitution" initiative, having broken through key technologies involving bamboo fibers and bamboo-plastic composites, thereby significantly raising product added value. Additionally, the county integrates bamboo culture and ecotourism, creating bamboo sea landscapes and science education bases.

A diverse array of star products was showcased during the promotional session. These included fully biodegradable bamboo fiber courier bags and shopping bags, wood-plastic flooring and fences made from integrated bamboo-wood fiber and polymer materials, as well as practical yet artistic bamboo pallets, baskets, and bamboo silk craft paintings. Highlighting their core corporate strengths, Guangning's enterprises presented premium products such as bamboo-based new materials and high-end bamboo home furnishings, fully demonstrating the innovation vitality and comprehensive capabilities of the county's bamboo industry.
