Foshan’s industrial investment rises 13% to 700 billion yuan during 14th Five-Year Plan

Foshan, one of Guangdong province's major manufacturing cities, has seen its industrial investment jump 13% to 700 billion yuan during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), as revealed at a press conference held in the capital city, Guangzhou, on December 17.

The city's economy has expanded vigorously, crossing three major 100-billion-yuan thresholds to reach 1.33 trillion yuan in 2024. 

A better industrial structure has been achieved. The city now boasts 10 industrial clusters, each with an output value exceeding 100 billion yuan. The number of large-scale industrial enterprises has surpassed 10,000, with advanced manufacturing now accounting for 54.8% of the added value from these firms. Furthermore, 3,000 projects, each with an investment of over 100 million yuan, have commenced construction, bringing total contracted investment to 1.8 trillion yuan.

Foshan has improved administrative efficiency for businesses by simplifying procedures. 525 government service items have been simplified, reducing processing times by 60% to 80% on average compared to two years ago. 

Foshan has ranked first among all prefecture-level cities in Guangdong for business environment evaluation for three consecutive years. The number of registered market entities in the city has exceeded 1.72 million, marking an 83.1% increase from five years ago.

Regarding urban-rural coordination, 30 of the city's 32 townships and sub-districts now have an economic output exceeding 10 billion yuan, with two surpassing the 100-billion-yuan mark. In 2024, the total income of the city's rural collective economy grew by 33% compared to 2020. The per capita disposable income of rural residents surpassed 43,000 yuan, narrowing the urban-rural income ratio to 1.6:1, which is better than the national and provincial averages.
