Foreign-invested enterprises operating in Guangdong for over 30 years and outstanding ESG cases unveiled

On October 30, a list of outstanding ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) cases from foreign-invested enterprises in Guangdong and a list of foreign-invested enterprises that have operated in Guangdong for over 30 years were released for the first time at the top 100 foreign-invested companies in Guangdong launch event.

The list of outstanding ESG cases, featuring 22 foreign-invested companies in Guangdong, aims to document the ESG practices of foreign-invested enterprises in China, particularly within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The list showcases companies' experiences and achievements in areas including green manufacturing, low-carbon innovation, employee welfare, social responsibility, and governance systems, encouraging more foreign-invested enterprises to translate ESG principles into long-term competitiveness and social value.

Selected enterprises include BASF Integrated Site (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., Siemens Ltd., China Guangzhou Branch, Asia Symbol (Guangdong) Paper Co., Ltd., ExxonMobil (Huizhou) Chemical Co., Ltd., and others, spanning traditional manufacturing, information technology, financial services, and other sectors.

The list of foreign-invested enterprises operating in Guangdong for over 30 years, consisting of 43 foreign-invested enterprises, was compiled based on data from foreign investors of member enterprises.

Five of these enterprises also appear in the top 100 foreign-invested enterprises list, such as Amway (China) Co., Ltd. and Procter & Gamble (China) Co., Ltd.; nine have been investing in Guangdong for more than 35 years, with the earliest-established enterprise among them dating back to 1984.
