Guangzhou records 14.5% growth in foreign trade from Jan to July

The total value of Guangzhou's foreign trade imports and exports reached 711.46 billion yuan in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%, according to Guangzhou Customs.

Guangzhou's exports amounted to 466.52 billion yuan, up 23.2% year-on-year, while imports totaled 244.94 billion yuan, growing by 1%. Private enterprises achieved import and export values of 427.66 billion yuan, surging 25.6% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 60% of the city's total foreign trade value.

Supported by a series of facilitation policies, the export of key products in Guangzhou maintained steady growth. According to customs statistics, the city's export of high-tech products reached 51.28 billion yuan in the first seven months, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%. During the same period, exports of the "new three" products (New Energy Vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries) amounted to 12.34 billion yuan, up 38.3% year-on-year.

In the first seven months, Guangzhou's import and export values with the EU and ASEAN reached 124.85 billion yuan and 118.55 billion yuan, respectively, representing year-on-year growth of 28.5% and 33.8%.

During the same period, the city's import and export value with Belt and Road Initiative partner countries amounted to 329.89 billion yuan, up 24.4% year-on-year, while trade with other BRICS member and partner countries totaled 178.13 billion yuan, an increase of 23.6%.

Private enterprises are driving foreign trade growth. In the first seven months, the number of companies in Guangzhou with actual import and export performance exceeded 23,000, marking a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. Among them, private enterprises accounted for over 20,000, representing 86.7% of the total number of companies with actual import and export activity.
