GBA delegation holds an economic and trade exchange meeting on semiconductors and integrated circuits in Suzhou

The 2026 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting, themed on semiconductors and integrated circuits (ICs), was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, on May 8. Representatives from investment and promotion authorities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), as well as business representatives from Jiangsu and Guangdong, attended the meeting to seek cross-region investment and cooperation opportunities.

The event facilitated multiple cooperation intentions and achieved notable outcomes.

Guangdong boasts distinctive strengths in the semiconductor and IC industry, including a solid industrial base, huge market potential, rich application scenarios, and a mature industrial ecosystem. Zhu Xiaojun, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, extended a warm invitation to participating entrepreneurs at the exchange meeting, encouraging companies from Jiangsu and the broader Yangtze River Delta to visit the GBA to explore opportunities in person, and further deepen investment and supply chain cooperation in the semiconductor and IC sector between the two regions for win-win results.

During the local industrial promotion session, representatives from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, and Dongguan introduced their respective industrial strengths and business environments, opening up opportunities to enterprises across the Yangtze River Delta.

In the enterprise sharing session, Zhou Qianting, representative of Suzhou LEKIN Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (苏州立琻半导体有限公司), shared the company's investment experience in Guangdong. She introduced its practice of building a two-way linkage mechanism that connects the Yangtze River Delta R&D resources with the GBA industrialization and local deployment. She said the company's subsidiary in Foshan has been operating in an orderly and steady manner, establishing partnerships with multiple leading clients in consumer electronics, smart home solutions, and new energy vehicles. Guangzhou CanSemi Technology Inc. (粤芯半导体技术股份有限公司), a leading industry chain player in the GBA, also shared the company's latest developments and the overall progress of the GBA's semiconductor and IC industrial chain.

Guangdong's semiconductor and IC industry has developed quickly in recent years. In 2025, the province's semiconductor and IC sector achieved a 16.2% year-on-year growth in operating revenue, while IC exports grew by 33.2% year on year. A "3+N" industrial pattern has taken shape, with Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai serving as the core drivers and supporting coordinated development across cities such as Foshan and Dongguan.

On the same day, a business exchange meeting between GBA institutions and Jiangsu's key biomedical enterprises was held. At the meeting, representatives from Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan delivered presentations on industrial investment promotion, showcasing the GBA's advantages across the entire biomedical industry chain. Representatives from Suzhou's biomedical enterprises introduced their main businesses and investment directions, and held in-depth matchmaking with GBA representatives.

Statistics show that Guangdong has more than 100 million people covered by medical insurance, with healthcare-related business revenue approaching 300 billion yuan. The province is home to over 170 Grade A tertiary hospitals, ranking first nationwide. Its medical distribution market exceeds 300 billion yuan, leading the country as well, providing support for biomedical enterprises to expand and deepen their presence in the GBA.
