International visitors explore Shanwei after Canton Fair

From May 3 to 5, a delegation of overseas buyers from Fiji, South Africa, Morocco, Suriname, Mauritius, and other countries visited Shanwei, a city of eastern Guangdong, for inspection and exchange activities. Leveraging the international economic and trade exchange platform of the 139th Canton Fair, they gained insights into the local distinctive industries and folk customs.

The delegation's first stop was "Zhuyu Z-ISLE", a multifunctional cultural space centered around jewelry culture. Drawing on Haifeng's industrial strengths as a leading global cluster for gemstone processing and jewelry manufacturing, the venue integrates jewelry-making experiences, jewelry display, science education, café and catering services, and interactive educational activities. It combines exhibitions, participatory experiences, and everyday scenes to explore new pathways for integrating jewelry into daily life. Subsequently, the delegates visited the Former Residence of Martyr Peng Pai, where a lion dance performance, a representative local intangible cultural heritage performance, was staged for the group. The folk performance, brimming with the unique Lingnan charm, deeply impressed the guests from afar.

At the Ketang Jewelry Market, the delegates visited each stall to closely examine the quality and cutting craftsmanship of the gemstones. At the Ketang Jewelry Museum, they gained a systematic understanding of Ketang's industrial evolution from traditional processing to a modern distribution hub through display panels and physical exhibits. A South African delegate remarked, "70% of the world's gemstones come from Ketang. With its outstanding quality, exquisite craftsmanship, and relentless dedication, Ketang has earned an irreplaceable position in the global jewelry industry."

After several days of on-site visits, corporate exchanges, and live demonstrations, the buyers developed a systematic understanding of the full industry chain of Shanwei's jewelry, spanning from raw material exploiting and processing to finished product design and market trading. They also came away with a strong sense of trust in quality control and craftsmanship standards. Several buyers expressed that the visit significantly boosted their confidence in Shanwei's jewelry brands, and they would proactively explore new pathways for long-term cooperation and market expansion in the future.
