Feng Zhonghua, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangzhou Municipal Committee, visited several foreign-invested companies in Tianhe and Baiyun districts on July 23 to hear from businesses and discuss ways to attract more foreign investment.
He stressed the need to comprehensively deepen reform, expand high-standard opening-up and foster a world-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based and internationalized.
Feng also called for stronger efforts to attract and utilize foreign investment and pledged full support to help foreign-invested enterprises succeed in Guangzhou.
At Procter & Gamble (China), Feng encouraged the company to capitalize on shifting consumer trends, invest more in innovation and focus on enhancing the customer experience.
During his visit to Carl Zeiss Vision (China), Feng expressed the hope that the company would leverage its strengths in optical technologies to further empower the smart terminal and health-care industries and strengthen innovation cooperation with medical institutions in Guangzhou.
At Amway's Guangzhou Flagship Experience Center, Feng urged the company to focus on the health sector, blending traditional Chinese medicine with modern nutrition science, and to expand its health-related product lines.
He also toured the Perennial General Hospital Guangzhou project in Baiyun District, inspecting construction progress and encouraging the company to build partnerships between domestic and international medical institutions and staff to create a high-quality, professional and internationally minded health-care system.
Feng said the city welcomes foreign companies to continue expanding their investment in Guangzhou, explore new areas of cooperation and pursue mutually beneficial development.
