OPPO and vivo make Global Unicorn Index for the fourth consecutive year

Recently, the Hurun Research Institute released the Global Unicorn Index 2026, which features unlisted companies founded after 2000 and valued at more than 1 billion U.S. dollars. In the ranking, OPPO and vivo, two leading smartphone companies headquartered in Dongguan, both placed among the world's top 100, at 20th and 22nd, respectively. They also entered China's top 10 unicorns, placing 7th and 9th, respectively. Having first appeared on the list in 2023, OPPO and vivo have been included in the Global Unicorn Index for four consecutive years.

In Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area, the two unicorn companies have launched major investment projects, with total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan.

OPPO has invested nearly 10 billion yuan in Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area to build its Intelligent Manufacturing Center, Global Computing Power Center, and the world's largest sports and health laboratory, creating a smart ecosystem that integrates computing power and algorithms with R&D and industrial applications.

The vivo Intelligent Terminal Headquarters, with a total investment of approximately 5 billion yuan, is under accelerated construction. Covering about 775,000 square meters, the project focuses on R&D in the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, smart terminal products, and mobile internet businesses. It will serve as a headquarters-level R&D hub for the company and attract a large pool of high-end research and development talent. The first phase of the project involves an investment of 1.5 billion yuan and is scheduled to become operational in 2030.

The settlement of OPPO and vivo has attracted a large number of upstream and downstream enterprises as well as high-end talent, laying a solid foundation for the development of the artificial intelligence industry in Binhaiwan.
