Recently, Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) unveiled new overseas medical training centers at the University of Palermo in Italy and St. Petersburg State University in Russia. This brings the total number of GMU's overseas medical training centers to five.
On October 5, the Italian center was inaugurated at the University of Palermo. The two sides signed a strategic cooperation agreement and held their first endoscopic urological surgery workshop.

GMU President Zhao Xingcun noted that GMU holds internationally leading strengths in fields such as respiratory medicine, thoracic surgery and urology, and has already received Palermo doctors for training in China this year. In the future, the center will promote joint training for cross-border medical professionals and the sharing of high-quality medical resources.
On October 7, the Russian center was unveiled at St. Petersburg State University, with both sides simultaneously signing a strategic cooperation agreement. Following the unveiling, the center hosted an international masterclass in urology, featuring clinical case reports and live surgical demonstrations. During the visit, the GMU delegation also signed a memorandum of understanding with the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov.

Currently, GMU has established three other overseas medical training centers in Kazakhstan, Türkiye and Dominica. Moving forward, GMU will continue to use these centers as platforms to promote technology export and international training in its leading disciplines such as urology, thoracic surgery and respiratory medicine.
