Recently, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University Hengqin Hospital received international accreditation, marking a step forward in aligning its services with global standards and advancing the internationalization of healthcare in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The accreditation is based on China's first set of hospital evaluation standards certified by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), underscoring the hospital's commitment to internationally recognized healthcare quality.
Construction of the hospital's new campus began in September 2020. It covers a site area of 60,000 square metres, with a total floor area of 191,000 square metres and 1,000 planned beds. Once completed, the hospital will become Hengqin's first national-level regional medical centre. Built in line with international standards, it is designed as a comprehensive public hospital integrating healthcare, research and education, and meeting China's top-tier Grade 3, Class A hospital requirements.

The hospital has also established an international medical centre offering both outpatient and inpatient services since 2024. Covering 972 square metres, the centre includes two consultation rooms, five single-bed wards and one emergency room, providing one-stop services for patients.
Macao is committed to expanding cooperation with the hospital and broadening healthcare services to help build a healthy Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The cooperation zone will continue to fully support the hospital, bringing tangible benefits to patients and contributing to a more liveable region.
