On August 26, the Foshan Municipal People's Government decided to lift the Level III public health emergency response to chikungunya, marking a shift in epidemic prevention and control strategy from emergency response to routine management.
According to the press conference on chikungunya fever prevention and control held by the Foshan government on the afternoon of August 26, the daily number of newly confirmed cases in Foshan has remained below 50 for nine consecutive days, indicating that the epidemic has entered a phase of low-level sporadic transmission in the city.
The period from September to October is the peak season for mosquito-borne diseases. Due to typhoons, frequent rainfall, and suitable temperatures, Aedes mosquitoes are expected to become more active.
In response, Foshan will continue to carry out prevention and control efforts in a scientific, precise, and efficient manner. The city will enhance targeted measures through a tiered and classified approach, routinely monitor mosquito density, and quickly contain sporadic outbreaks.
At the same time, efforts will be made to comprehensively improve medical treatment capacity, strengthen case management, and ensure the safety and health of all patients.
