Two students from Guangdong Baiyun University recently rescued an injured Russian motorcyclist in the scenic area of Lijiang, Yunnan Province, drawing widespread attention.

On April 6, 20-year-old Zhou Zhihang from Maoming, Guangdong, and his classmate Liang Yaqi were returning from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain when they witnessed a Russian man thrown from his motorcycle after colliding with a concrete barrier. The victim suffered a severe injury to his left leg and was unable to speak Chinese or call for help.

Zhou, who speaks English, calmed the man, called emergency services, and provided basic first aid. Liang stayed by the victim's side and retrieved his phone. The two later accompanied him to the hospital by ambulance. Zhou also covered part of the medical expenses, assisted with examinations, and acted as an interpreter until the man's colleague in China arrived.

"As a native of Maoming, I am inspired every day by the spirit of kindness and responsibility promoted by 'Haoxin Maoming'," Zhou said. "If I were faced with the same situation again, I would still rush forward without hesitation."

The Russian tourist's company has sent a letter of thanks along with gifts to the university. Local authorities in Maoming and Lijiang are reviewing the students' act of bravery, with a formal commendation expected in June.
