TCM trading platform launched in Guangzhou's Nansha, attracting 200 firms

The Shouchuang Traditional Chinese Medicine Trading Platform was officially launched on April 9 in Guangzhou's Nansha District and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) simultaneously, marking a key step toward building a standardized and internationalized TCM trading hub with joint efforts from Guangdong and Hong Kong. This platform has already attracted 200 high-quality Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) enterprises, creating an industrial cluster effect.

The platform was initiated by the TCM All-sector Hong Kong Centre and is registered and operated by Guangzhou Shouchuang Traditional Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd. in Nansha. It aims to leverage the strengths of both sides to build a B2B third-party trading platform for Chinese herbal medicines and facilitate the global expansion of TCM.

Integrating online transaction settlement, information release, logistics tracking, and price disclosure, the platform covers the entire TCM industrial chain—from planting and processing to distribution and manufacturing—offering a one-stop solution for certified herbal medicine trade.

The platform has partnered with Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre (STC), an independent third-party not-for-profit organization, to establish a full-process quality management system that includes testing, on-site certification, and continuous follow-up inspections. All herbal medicines sold on the platform must first pass STC's testing, then undergo on-site verification of origin, processing, and storage, and be subject to random retesting during the trading period.

The platform operates on a membership basis. It has already enrolled 200 high-quality TCM enterprises across China, as well as the HKSAR. The first batch of more than 40 types of genuine medicinal herbs—including Atractylodes, Poria, Ginseng, Gastrodia, and Astragalus—has been listed, all of which have passed certification and testing.
