Guangdong launches AI-powered digital platform to boost manufacturing

On May 13, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province officially launched a digital matchmaking platform that allows enterprises to post their service needs, products, and projects, enabling direct connections between supply and demand.

The platform has so far brought together nearly 570 high-quality domestic and international service providers, 905 service resources, and 362 cooperation cases. Its participants include industry leaders, specialized service firms, and research institutes, forming a multi-level, high-caliber service network for manufacturing empowerment.

The platform covers six major service areas: AI applications, R&D and innovation, manufacturing and production, brand building, marketing and sales, and comprehensive empowerment. Together, they address the full-chain upgrading needs of manufacturing enterprises.

Looking ahead, the platform will also develop a dedicated large model for manufacturing empowerment. The model will be able to create precise profiles based on enterprises' production scenarios, transformation pain points, and industry characteristics.

Guangdong is one of China's major manufacturing powerhouses. In 2025, the province had 76,000 industrial enterprises above designated size, with the total operating revenue of these enterprises exceeding RMB 19 trillion. Both figures ranked first nationwide.

Industry and information services contributed approximately 50% to Guangdong's GDP growth. The added value of advanced manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing accounted for more than 50% and over 30% of the total output value of industries above designated size, respectively.

In 2026, Guangdong proposed promoting the coordinated integration of manufacturing and service industries, using artificial intelligence and other technologies to drive transformative changes in manufacturing organization models and efficiency.
