China's annual "two sessions" will kick off in Beijing
During the sessions, a draft outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan for economic and social development, as well as a draft government work report, are expected to be submitted to lawmakers for review. This year marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).
The fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress will open on March 5, and the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will open on March 4.
China's revised Foreign Trade Law took effect on March 1
The revised law clarifies that China will strengthen intellectual property protection related to foreign trade and enhance the compliance and risk response capabilities of foreign trade operators regarding intellectual property rights. The revision also enriches and improves China's legal toolkit for struggles in the foreign trade arena and supplements and refines corresponding countermeasures.
This round of revision came amid the restructuring of global trade landscapes and rising uncertainties, and it redefines China's opening up via clearer legal commitments, a better business environment, and stronger international response tools. More→

Guangzhou, Foshan mutually recognize foreign talent work permits
When transferring employment between Guangzhou and Foshan, high-end foreign talents (Category A) are fully exempt from resubmitting their highest academic degree certificates. Proof of prior work experience is no longer required if the individual's job position remains unchanged. For intra-company transfers within multinational corporations or corporate groups, individuals who reapply for their work permit within 30 days are exempt from providing both criminal record certificates and medical examination reports. 2026 Macao-Hengqin Art Fair offers free booths for creators
The fair will take place from April 9 to 12 at the Hengqin Culture and Arts Centre, and is open to cultural and creative vendors from Guangdong, Macao, Southeast Asia, and Portuguese-speaking countries. All 150 creative stalls will be offered free of charge, lowering barriers for both established brands and emerging teams. Applications remain open until March 20. China extends visa-free policy to Canada, UK
Ordinary passport holders from the two countries can enter China without a visa and stay for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family/friends visits, exchange, and transit purposes. The policy will be effective until Dec 31. More→
