Mid-Autumn concerts in Guangdong

The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which runs from September 25 to September 27 this year, is around the corner. How about celebrating it with music? From classical masterpieces to traditional Chinese music and orchestral works, Guangdong's concert halls are bringing a variety of performances to audiences throughout the holiday.

"Romantic & Classical" symphony concert of classical masterpieces, Guangzhou

Conductor Huang Zuqi, joined by Russian violinists Marianna Terteryan and Gleb Dontsov, will lead a 50-member orchestra to perform a selection of familiar classical works, such as Salut d'Amour, Canon in D, The Blue Danube, Für Elise and Waltz of the Flowers.

Traditional Chinese music gala, Shenzhen & Guangzhou

The concert features eight instruments, including guzheng, pipa, erhu, bamboo flute, ruan, Chinese drums, piano and sheng, and showcases Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon, Blooming Flowers under Full Moon, The Butterfly Lovers and Immortal Sound Above Cloud Palace, blending traditional Chinese music with modern elements.

Concert inspired by China's Four Great Classical Novels, Shenzhen

Inspired by China's Four Great Classical Novels, Journey to the West, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin and Dream of the Red Chamber, the concert features soundtrack hits from their film and TV adaptations. Young composer Cai Longlong of the Guangdong National Orchestra has created new arrangements that retain the essence of the original works while incorporating contemporary Chinese instrumental techniques.

Shenzhen Grand Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra Mid-Autumn Concert

The Shenzhen Grand Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Orchestra. The repertoire spans Chinese and international classics, such as Dance of the Yao People, Haixia Suite, Gayane Suite and Capriccio Italien.

Chinese music performances by the China National Traditional Orchestra, Shenzhen

The China National Traditional Orchestra will present three different concerts over three nights. The first features new arrangements of familiar works such as Silk Road, Spring on a Moonlit River, Moon Reflected on Second Spring and Fisherman's Song at Dusk. The second focuses on the Mid-Autumn Festival with contemporary Chinese orchestral works, while the third brings together China's musical styles from Jiangnan, northern China and the western plateau and desert regions.
