Beat the heat! Go rafting in Guangdong

As the weather heats up, Guangdong's thrilling rafting season is in full swing. Across the province, natural canyons, forest streams, and rushing rapids offer exciting adventures for every type of traveler. Here are some of the best destinations to explore.

Heungkong Dafeng Water Canyon Park, Guangzhou (香江大丰水峡谷乐园)

Upgraded this summer, Heungkong Dafeng Water Canyon Park, formerly known as Dafengmen Scenic Area, combines rafting with canyon adventures. Its 6,350-meter rafting course features a total vertical drop of 391 meters, carrying riders through rushing rapids surrounded by lush mountains.

Beyond rafting, visitors can also try waterfall via ferrata climbing, canyoning, and stream trekking, or enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, and camping.

Tour Loong Gorge, Foshan (游龙峡漂流)

Stretching 8.8 kilometers, Tour Loong Gorge is one of Guangdong's longest rafting courses. With a total elevation drop of 108 meters and rafting sessions lasting about two hours, it delivers an exhilarating ride through forested valleys and mountain streams. Along the way, visitors can also admire waterfalls, caves, and lush canyon scenery, making it an ideal escape from the summer heat.

Gulongxia Scenic Area, Qingyuan (古龙峡景区)

Gulong Gorge, also known as Gulongxia, is home to one of Guangdong's most famous rafting experiences. Its 6,063-meter international rafting course drops 378 meters, earning it the nickname "the roller coaster on the rapids."

This summer, the rafting route has been transformed with an Amazon rainforest theme. Visitors can paddle past dinosaur installations, interact with costumed performers, and enjoy an immersive jungle adventure alongside spectacular waterfalls.

Leigong Gorge Rafting Scenic Area, Huizhou (雷公峡漂流景区)

Hidden within Xiangtou Mountain Forest Park, Leigong Gorge features a 4.5-kilometer natural river course winding through bamboo forests and lush valleys. The two-hour journey includes more than a dozen thrilling drops and over 20 natural scenic spots along the way. Surrounded by pristine forest and fresh mountain air, it's an ideal destination for both adventure and relaxation.

Danxia Lingxi River Forest Resort, Shaoguan (丹霞灵溪森林度假景区)

The resort's 3.5-kilometer canyon rafting course offers a fast-paced adventure route for thrill seekers and a gentler route for families. After rafting, visitors can take a cable car ride, board a forest train through bamboo groves, go horseback riding, or camp beside the stream.

Tianlu Mountain Tourist Resort, Yunfu (天露山旅游度假区)

Chanlong Gorge rafting at Tianlu Mountain features a 3.8-kilometer course with a total vertical drop of 188 meters, combining sharp turns and thrilling descents. Families with young children can try a gentler rafting route, while those seeking a unique perspective can experience the resort's glass rafting slide, through forests and flower fields.
