On September 24, Shenzhen Airport announced the resumption of flight operations starting at 8:00 p.m., September 24, as Super Typhoon Ragasa gradually moves away from Shenzhen and its impact weakens.
Affected by the super typhoon, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (Baiyun Airport) is experiencing moderate to heavy rain showers today. The airport had originally scheduled 417 inbound and outbound flights (184 departures, 233 arrivals). Passengers with travel plans are advised to monitor weather updates and announcements from "中国广州发布" ("China Guangzhou Release") to adjust their itineraries and travel safely.
As Super Typhoon Ragasa approached Guangdong on September 23, China Southern Airlines (CSA) immediately took action to mitigate operational risks and prioritize passenger safety.
Leveraging years of experience, CSA activated its typhoon early warning mechanism to scientifically adjust flight schedules for over ten affected airports, including those in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai.
To ensure a stable response, CSA is closely coordinating with airports and air traffic control. As of 08:00 on September 24, CSA has canceled most inbound and outbound flights at Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports, as well as all flights at Zhuhai, Zhanjiang, Hong Kong, and Macao airports.
CSA is also coordinating with various stations for passenger flow distribution and working with airport joint-inspection units to manage flight diversions and assist stranded passengers, including those going through immigration, to prevent airport crowding and arrange subsequent travel.
For canceled flights, CSA has established dedicated baggage handling areas at its Guangzhou hub, with staff assigned to retrieve and deliver luggage to minimize passenger wait times.
Additionally, CSA's general aviation arm has arranged 8 helicopters with professional crews on 24-hour emergency standby, supported by maintenance teams ensuring aircraft are flight-ready for potential rescue missions.
CSA advises passengers to check flight status via its official website, app, WeChat official account, WeChat mini-program, or customer service hotline (95539). If flights are delayed or canceled, tickets can be refunded or rebooked through these channels. During periods of high call volume, using online options is recommended.
