Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has been named the best airport for departures in the Asia-Pacific region among airports handling over 40 million travelers, securing the title for a sixth consecutive year.
This recognition comes from the 2025 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards released by Airports Council International (ACI), which represents airports worldwide.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport ranked joint first among 367 airports surveyed and was one of nine airports globally to receive the award in the Asia-Pacific region for the 40-million-plus passenger category, based on passenger satisfaction data.
In 2025, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport handled over 80 million passengers for the first time, reinforcing its position as a major international hub. The airport expanded its global network with 76 new, resumed, or increased international and regional routes, taking the number of overseas destinations beyond 100.
During the recent Spring Festival travel rush in 2026, the airport recorded strong operating performance: from February 15 to 23, it handled around 15,000 flights, averaging 1,656 movements per day, a 7.6% increase year on year. Passenger throughput reached 2.4 million over the period, an increase of 9.5%, with daily traffic hitting consecutive record highs on February 22 and 23 at 283,400 and 286,400 passengers, respectively.
