Qingyuan-Yunfu Expressway opens to traffic, shortening travel time by one hour

The Qingyuan-Yunfu Expressway, the section of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway running from Qingxin District in Qingyuan to Xinxing County in Yunfu, recently passed a completion-acceptance inspection conducted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation, earning an overall engineering rating of "Excellent."

The acceptance committee concluded that after trial operation, the expressway was in good overall condition and met the requirements for completion acceptance. It passed the inspection and officially entered service on the date of acceptance.

The expressway is a key section of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Expressway, designated the "second horizontal" route in Guangdong's expressway network plan, and serves as a fast corridor linking western and northern Guangdong with the western Pearl River Delta.

The route starts in Taihe Town, Qingxin District, Qingyuan, and runs through Sihui, Gaoyao District and Deqing County in Zhaoqing, as well as Yun'an District and Yuncheng District in Yunfu, before ending in Lezhu Town, Xinxing County. It runs 157.75 kilometers and was built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The expressway shortens travel time between Qingyuan and Yunfu to about 1.5 hours from roughly 2.5 hours before.
