During the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday (February 15-23), cross-regional passenger trips all over Guangdong reached 275.5054 million, averaging 30.6117 million trips per day, up 13.85 percent year on year. Multiple transport indicators, including Pearl River Cruises, Qiongzhou Strait ferry services, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, airports, and railways, set new historical records.

Railways handled a total of 12.8304 million passenger trips during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 15.87 percent. On February 13, ahead of the holiday travel peak, the province's daily railway passenger volume exceeded 2.04 million, setting a new record for the Spring Festival travel rush.
Highway passenger trips totaled 258.0348 million, up 13.81 percent year on year. Expressways across the province recorded approximately 69.6983 million vehicle trips, a 13.94 percent year-on-year increase. Traffic peaked on February 23 at about 10.0564 million vehicle trips, a record high for a single day during the Chinese New Year holiday.
Waterway passenger trips reached 1.9681 million, up 10.31 percent year on year. On February 20, Pearl River Cruise passenger numbers hit a record 45,400 in a single day. On February 23, vehicle traffic on Qiongzhou Strait ferries between Guangdong and Hainan reached a historic high of 40,013.
Civil aviation handled 2.672 million passenger trips, marking a 9.12 percent increase. On February 23, passenger throughput at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport reached 286,000, while Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport handled 214,000 passengers, both setting new records.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge recorded 213,500 vehicle trips during the holiday, up 23.26 percent year on year. Traffic peaked on February 21 at approximately 29,500 vehicle trips. Following daily volumes surpassing 27,000 on February 19 and reaching around 27,100 on February 20, the bridge set new historical highs for three consecutive days.
