Shimen Tunnel on Shenzhen–Nanning High-speed Railway section in Yunfu completed

The Shimen Tunnel, a key component of the Shenzhen–Nanning High-speed Railway (Shennan High-speed Railway) in the Yunfu section of Guangdong Province, was completed with a breakthrough on April 6. The tunnel is the third to be completed in Yun'an District of Yunfu, following the Zhudoufu and Minfu tunnels, marking a significant acceleration of the project's overall construction.

Once completed, the Shenzhen–Nanning High-speed Railway, which runs from the Pearl River Delta Hub Airport through Foshan, Zhaoqing, and Yunfu to the Guangdong–Guangxi border, will have a train design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The section undertaken by the 14th Bureau of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) spans 14.85 kilometers across two districts (cities) and three towns in Yunfu.

When operational, the railway will cut the fastest travel time between Nanning and Shenzhen from 3.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. It will significantly enhance the high-speed rail network connecting Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan, support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone, and help Yunfu integrate more rapidly into the GBA "one-hour economic circle" region.
