On November 12, the Guangnan Expressway (广南快速路), including the Haizhuwan Tunnel (海珠湾隧道) and the free southern connection line, opened for trial operation. Once fully operational, the expressway will enable travel between Guangzhou South Railway Station and the city center in just 15 minutes.

During the trial period, the Haizhuwan Tunnel is free of charge. Toll collection will follow official procedures and will be announced separately.
The expressway connects Dongxiaonan Elevated Road in the north with Guangzhou South Railway Station in the south. The northern section, the Haizhuwan Tunnel, spans 4.36 kilometers and is designed to a six-lane dual carriageway standard. The southern section, the Dongxiaonan Road–Guangzhou South Railway Station Connection Line, is 5.85 kilometers long, also featuring six lanes in both directions.

Residents traveling from central districts such as Haizhu and Yuexiu can now enter the expressway from Dongxiaonan Elevated Road, pass through the Haizhuwan Tunnel and the southern connection line, and reach Guangzhou South Railway Station's departure platform in 15 minutes, reducing the previous travel time of 30 to 40 minutes by more than half.
