Typhoon Matmo disrupts some train and ferry services in South China

According to meteorological authorities, this year's 21st typhoon, Matmo, is expected to make landfall along the coastal area between Dianbai in Guangdong and Wanning in Hainan during the day on October 5. The typhoon will bring heavy to torrential rain to the western coastal areas of Guangdong and the central and eastern parts of Hainan Island.

Due to the impact of the typhoon, some train services have been adjusted or suspended. From October 4 to 6, cross-sea trains to and from Hainan Island will terminate or originate at Guangzhou Baiyun Station or Zhanjiang West Station. Trains running between Anyang and Sanya, as well as those between Shenzhen East and Sanya, Kunming, Jingxi, or Zhanjiang, and between Kunming and Xiamen, will be partially suspended.

On October 5, all trains on the Jiangmen-Zhanjiang Railway, Guangzhou-Maoming Railway, and within Hainan Island will be suspended.

Railway authorities will adjust transport capacity as needed. Passengers can check train schedules via the 12306 railway website or station announcements.

Ferry services across the Qiongzhou Strait have been suspended from 4 p.m. on October 4, and the resumption time will be announced based on the typhoon's impact.
