Travelers using the intercity railway in Guangzhou can now enjoy a more convenient transfer experience at Pazhou Station. The intercity interchange gates have recently undergone a functional upgrade, now supporting "QR code gate access" for intercity discount tickets, in addition to the existing payment system.
This enhancement allows passengers who have purchased intercity discount passes through the official Guangzhou Metro APP to breeze through the interchange gates with just a scan of their code.
Key upgrade:
Passengers who have completed real-name authentication and activated the intercity QR code on the Guangzhou Metro APP can now purchase discounted tickets, including:
- Periodic passes: Weekly, Half-Monthly, and Monthly cards.
- Fixed-Ride passes: Monthly and Quarterly tickets.
With the upgraded gates, these passengers can now directly scan the QR code from the APP to pass through the interchange gates at Pazhou Station for a seamless transfer to Guangzhou Metro Line 11. Upon scanning, the system automatically deducts one ride from the pass and simultaneously records the metro entry information, creating a "contactless transfer" experience.
For passengers using ID cards or 12306 tickets:
Travelers who purchased tickets via 12306 using their ID cards should follow the station signage to the dedicated 12306 ticket area. After exiting the intercity gates, they can proceed to the metro entrance without undergoing security screening again and use their metro card or code to continue their journey on Line 11.
Important reminder:
To use the interchange gates at Pazhou Station, passengers must have both the "Intercity QR Code" and the "Guangzhou Metro Public Transport Code" activated within the app. After transferring from the intercity to the metro, the APP will automatically switch to the metro code; if it does not, passengers can switch it manually.
Step-by-step guide: How to register for the intercity QR code
Method 1: QR code registration & usage
1. Download: Install the official "Guangzhou Metro" APP on your mobile phone.
2. Activate payment: Click "Activate Now（立即开通）" and select your preferred payment method.
3. Navigate to intercity: On the main QR code page, click "Activate Intercity Railway Travel（开通乘坐城际铁路）."
4. Real-name authentication: Register and complete the real-name verification process.
5. Confirm activation: Click "Activate Intercity Railway Travel（开通乘坐城际铁路）" to enable the service.
6. Generate code: Click "Travel Now（马上乘车）" to generate your intercity travel QR code.
7. Gate access: Scan the QR code and look at the camera for facial verification to pass through the gate.
Method 2: Physical travel card registration & binding
For passengers who prefer to use physical transport cards (Yang Cheng Tong, Lingnan Pass, China T-union).
1. Navigate: Click on "Real-Name Travel（实名乘车）."
2. Start binding: Click "Register and Bind Card（注册绑卡）."
3. Present card: Show your physical transport card to the device (Yang Cheng Tong, Lingnan Pass, China T-union).
4. Present ID: Show your valid identification document.
5. Facial verification: Look at the camera for facial recognition.
6. Complete: Once registration is successful, retrieve all your documents and cards.
7. Gate access: Swipe the registered card and look at the camera for facial verification to pass through the gate.
