Maoming Shimin Avenue Interchange mainline bridge to finish early 2026

The construction of the Shimin Avenue Interchange node, part of the first phase of the provincial highway S280 (Maoming Avenue) rapid transformation project, is progressing rapidly. As of September 7, the overall progress of this project has reached approximately 62%, with the mainline bridge expected to be completed by the end of January 2026.

On September 2, the first segment of the steel girder for the Shimin Avenue Interchange was successfully installed.

The Shimin Avenue Interchange is one of the key components of the Maoming Avenue rapid transformation project. Located at the intersection of Maoming Avenue and Shimin Avenue, it spans Dianbai District and the High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The route generally runs from north to south, with a total length of 1.713 kilometers. The design incorporates an elevated mainline and ground-level auxiliary roads, featuring a six-lane dual carriageway for the mainline with a design speed of 80 km/h, and a four-lane dual carriageway for the ground-level auxiliary roads with a design speed of 40 km/h.

Currently, 60% of the bridge prefabrication has been completed, with 15% of the installation finished. Meanwhile, 54% of the rainwater and sewage pipelines and 53% of the auxiliary roads have been completed. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance traffic efficiency on Maoming Avenue, alleviate regional traffic congestion, and provide citizens with a more convenient and efficient travel environment.
