Guangzhou's international air network is expected to expand, with airlines adding capacity on routes to Europe and Africa while restoring regional connectivity in Northeast Asia as the winter schedule begins.

China Southern Airlines will retain its recently launched Guangzhou-London Gatwick service after the summer travel season, making it a year-round operation. Starting October 26, the carrier will operate five weekly Boeing 787-9 flights, up from the three weekly services initially planned for the winter schedule.

The airline will also continue its daily Guangzhou-London Heathrow service using the Boeing 787-9, giving Guangzhou two nonstop links to London through the UK's two largest international airports.

Regional connectivity will also improve with Busan Air, a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines, by launching a four-times-weekly Busan-Guangzhou service from October 25. The new route, operated by Airbus A321 aircraft, will expand travel options between southern China and South Korea's second-largest city.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest airline, will temporarily boost capacity on its Guangzhou-Addis Ababa route from October 6 to 31. During this period, the airline will increase the number of flights from 10 to 14 per week. Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital and home to the airline, is one of the continent's busiest aviation hubs, providing onward connections to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. The move will create a twice-daily service during the period, strengthening one of southern China's key air corridors to Africa while offering greater flexibility for both passenger and cargo traffic.
