The Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway (Panyu–Baiyun Airport North) and the Pazhou–Lianhuashan Intercity Railway recently passed scheduled operation tests, while long-distance through-running tests were also completed on the "Zhaoqing–Feixia" and "Huizhou North–Feixia" routes.
This marks the integration of the two new lines into the existing Pearl River Delta intercity railway network, enabling seamless connections for residents in Huizhou and Zhaoqing to Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou and Feixia Station in Qingyuan.
The Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway runs 57.8 kilometers from Panyu to Baiyun Airport North, forming a north-south axis. It links the Guangfo East Ring section and the Airport T2 extension of the Xintang–Baiyun Airport–Guangzhou North Intercity Railway, with 13 stations including Panyu (existing), Dashi East, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, Pazhou, Keyun Road, Longdong, Dayuan, Maofengshan, Zhuliao, Baiyun Airport East, Baiyun Airport South, and Baiyun Airport North (existing).
The Pazhou–Lianhuashan Intercity Railway, also known as the Pazhou Branch Line, stretches 18.2 kilometers and has four stations: Pazhou, Shenjing, Hualong South, and Guangzhou Lianhuashan (existing).
After trial operations, cross-line tests were carried out to connect the Guangzhou East Ring and Pazhou–Lianhuashan intercity lines with existing routes. The Guangzhou–Zhaoqing Intercity connected via Panyu Station, while the Guangzhou–Huizhou Intercity linked through Lianhuashan and Pazhou stations. Both lines then connected with the Guangzhou–Qingyuan Intercity at Huadu Railway Station, completing long-distance services on the "Zhaoqing–Feixia" and "Huizhou North–Feixia" routes.
Once officially opened, the new intercity lines will bring the Pearl River Delta intercity railway network into full grid operation, further enhancing regional connectivity and travel efficiency across Guangdong.
