Ethiopian Airlines will increase its Guangzhou–Addis Ababa service to two flights a day from Oct. 6 to 31, offering more travel options between Guangzhou and Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and a major aviation hub in Africa, ahead of the 140th Canton Fair, which will be held in Guangzhou from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4.
According to the airline's schedule, the additional flights will serve all three phases of the fair. More than 210,000 buyers from 196 countries and regions have already registered for the fair, with professional buyers accounting for nearly 80 percent of the total, according to the China Foreign Trade Centre.
First held in 1957, the Canton Fair is one of China's longest-running international trade events and an important platform for global business exchanges. The 139th edition, held earlier this year, attracted more than 310,000 overseas buyers.
The fair is held in three phases, covering sectors ranging from advanced manufacturing and electronics to home products, consumer goods and fashion. The additional Ethiopian Airlines flights are expected to make travel more convenient for buyers and exhibitors traveling between Guangzhou and Ethiopia during the fair.
