Guangzhou Railway Station undergoes a major upgrade targeting high-speed rail operations

The Guangzhou Railway Station has completed a comprehensive functional transformation, paving the way for high-speed rail services directly into the heart of the city. Effective from the new train schedule implemented on January 26, the historic station will shift its primary focus to high-speed rail operations. The station will no longer handle the departure or arrival of conventional passenger trains.

Instead, the station will take over 50 Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Rail services previously originating from the Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station. This move integrates Guangzhou Station into the core network of major high-speed lines, including the Beijing-Guangzhou, Guiyang-Guangzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou, and Guangzhou-Shantou railways, enhancing connections to North China, Northwest China, and Southwest regions. Notably, the station will also commence its first direct bullet train service to Yan'an.

Simultaneously, six conventional train services originally starting from Guangzhou Station have been relocated to the newer Guangzhou Baiyun Station. Baiyun Station will now specialize in handling conventional train services and high-speed rail services for the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (Guangzhan HSR).

Furthermore, the station will introduce 22 cross-provincial high-speed train services from the Nanning-Guangzhou and Guiyang-Guangzhou lines, strengthening links with Southwest and South China.

A key highlight of the upgrade is the enhanced service on the Guangzhan HSR. Starting February 2, additional temporary passenger trains will operate directly between Guangzhou Station and Zhanjiang North Station, bringing the two city centers closer than ever before.

From February 3 to 15: An additional G5280 train will return from Zhanjiang North to Guangzhou Station.
