The redeveloped Huanggang Port will officially open and start operations from 6:30 am on Monday, providing 24-hour clearance services for passengers and passenger vehicles.
Located just to the east of the Lok Ma Chau Control Point, the revamped port is expected to reshape cross-boundary inno-tech and logistics, boosting long-term industrial collaboration with other central and western border checkpoints.
With the new port coming into service, passenger clearance services at the temporary port building of the Huanggang port in Shenzhen and the Lok Ma Chau control point in Hong Kong will be suspended, officials said.
Speaking at a press conference organized to announce the opening on Friday, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said the new Huanggang Port is ready for safe, efficient and smooth operation.
The authorities are fully confident a robust system and sufficient manpower will support the facility's high-profile opening on Monday, Tang added.
The governments of Guangdong and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region decided the commencement date after a series of tests and trials.
The new port building has passed "acceptance inspection", the SAR's Security Bureau and the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government said in a joint statement on Friday morning.
"Following the completion of a series of system tests, trials and emergency drills by both Hong Kong and Shenzhen, it has been confirmed that the port is ready for opening," reads the statement.

The Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area and related extended areas were commissioned on July 31 and are subject to the jurisdiction of the HKSAR in accordance with its laws.
The SAR government said on Wednesday that the new port will be served by seven franchised bus routes, six dedicated minibus routes, and five short-haul cross-boundary coach routes operating around the clock, providing direct access to various districts across the city. These public transportation routes connect 13 major stations, offering more comprehensive coverage than other border crossings.
