China's travel rush during Qingming Festival holiday will run from April 3 to 7. China Railway Guangzhou Group expects 13.61 million passenger trips, up 11% year on year, with a peak of 3.45 million on April 4, an increase of 414,000 trips or 13.6% compared to last year.
On April 3, a total of 3,577 passenger trains will be put into operation, including 371 additional train services. Another 142 overnight high-speed trains will run between late April 3 and early April 4, mainly on the Beijing–Guangzhou, Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong and Shanghai–Kunming high-speed railway lines.

As the Qingming Festival holiday overlaps with Hong Kong's Easter break, three special "flower-viewing" high-speed tourist trains will depart from Shenzhen North Station on April 3 to Ganzhou in Jiangxi, Guiyang in Guizhou and Guilin in Guangxi, carrying about 2,400 travelers.
Intercity railway services are also stepping up capacity. From April 3 to 6, the Guangzhou–Qingyuan intercity line will add six trains daily. On April 3 and 6, the Guangzhou–Huizhou and Guangzhou–Zhaoqing intercity lines will each add 16 trains per day, rising to 26 on April 4 and 5. The Guangzhou–Shenzhen intercity line will run eight extra trains on April 4.
Separately, timetable adjustments on the Guangzhou–Huizhou intercity line have taken effect since March 30, including route changes and additional express services.
Passengers are advised to check train schedules through the official 12306 railway platform and allow sufficient time to reach stations. Intercity railway updates could be checked via the Guangzhou Metro app, WeChat Official Account of Guangdong Intercity Railway Operation Co., Ltd. or the 12306 platform, or by calling the hotline 020-96891.
