Your guide to traveling through Guangzhou Baiyun Int'l Airport this Spring Festival

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has kicked off its 2026 Spring Festival travel period, expecting to handle over 10.5 million passengers across 40 days from February 2 to March 13.

The airport anticipates approximately 65,700 flights, averaging 1,643 daily departures, an 8.5% increase from last year. Passenger traffic is projected to rise 11.8%, with daily volumes reaching 262,800 travelers at peak periods. Cargo throughput is expected to hit 250,700 tonnes, up 6.2%.

Ground Transportation

Taxis:

Taxi Pick-Up Points by Terminal

  • T1: Short-distance taxis available at B2 gate, in the former P5 parking area.

  • T2: Follow on-site signage to short- and long-distance taxi points at GTC Traffic Center east and west sides, outside Arrival Level Gates 50 and 53.

  • T3: Taxis for Domestic Arrival: Arrival Level, Gate 72

Taxis for International Arrival: Arrival Level, Gate 75 (also serves as short-distance taxi pick-up)

Passengers are advised to use official taxis only for safety and to avoid overcharging or refusal of service.

Ride-Hailing: 

  • T1: Passengers from B Arrival Area can take the elevator to B1 (P2 Parking) pick-up point or use the north pedestrian bridge to P4 Parking, west side, 1st floor.

  • T2: Pick-up points at P8 Parking, 2nd or 3rd floor. Domestic arrivals can reach the 2nd floor P8 pick-up via terminal escalators and pedestrian corridor or use the 3rd floor west side as an alternative.

  • T3: Pick-up points at P12 Parking, 1M and 2F levels.

Private Cars:

  • T1: Passengers can walk via terminal passageways to P1, P2, P3, or P4 parking lots (about 5–10 minutes).

  • T2: Walk to P6, P7, or P8 parking lots for private car pick-up (about 3–5 minutes).

  • T3: Private car pick-up available at P11 and P12 parking structures on the south side of T3. Cars can access: P11/P12 via Feiyang Avenue, or P12 via the T3 outbound elevated road.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time during peak travel and follow on-site signs to the designated pick-up areas.

Metro: 

Metro Line 3 Extended Service During Spring Festival

Feb 13–15 & 21–23: service extended by 1 hour

Feb 16: service extended by 1.5 hours

North section (Tiyu Xilu – Airport North): last train at 23:15

Intercity Rail:

Baiyun Airport East Station (T3) is served by the Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway (Panyu-Baiyun Airport North) with 6 direct express trains from Guangzhou Baiyun Station daily, fastest 39 minutes.

Arrival passengers can reach T3 via a 3–5 minute walk from the station exit to the airport transport hub.

Airport Shuttle & Bus: 

24-hour free shuttle connects T1, T2, T3:

Peak hours (09:00–23:00): every 8 minutes

Regular hours (23:00–03:00, 05:00–09:00): every 15 minutes

Low-traffic hours (03:00–05:00): every 20 minutes

Airport Express buses cover all Guangzhou districts and select cities in Guangdong, including Dongguan and Foshan. Additional late-night and peak-time services are available.

Long-distance buses from T3 Transportation Center serve multiple Guangdong cities; select routes as low as 39.8 RMB.

In-Terminal Experience

Festive displays include traditional performances, festive food, and immersive decorations, with T2 featuring the world's largest glasses-free 3D screen displaying local culture and New Year greetings.

Restaurants, retail, and duty-free stores remain fully operational, with promotions and extended hours for travelers.

*Passengers are advised to allow extra time for airport roads, metro, and shuttle services, especially during peak days.
