From August 15 to 17, the 2025 South China Sea (Maoming Bohe) Fishing Season was held in the Maoming Binhai New Area. At noon on August 16, over 600 fishing boats departed from Maoming's Bohe Fishing Port, to begin a new season of maritime harvest after a 3.5-month fishing moratorium.

As a key representation of South China Sea fishing culture, the Bohe fishing season has been held for many years and has become a distinctive local tradition. Staff on-site revealed that this year, over 400 registered tourist buses alone arrived, along with numerous private vehicles and visitors, making the festival more vibrant than ever.

"The atmosphere was incredible! I bought some local seafood to take home," said a tourist from Zhanjiang, explaining that dozens of friends had traveled together to experience the fishing culture.
Bohe Fishing Port, one of the starting ports of the Maritime Silk Road in Guangdong, boasts over 1,500 years of fishing heritage. Now Bohe Town has around 40,000 fishery workers and over 1,800 fishing boats. In 2024, the total marine catch and aquaculture output of Bohe Fishing Port exceeded 140,000 tons. With over 130 seafood processing and trading enterprises, including five large-scale fishery-related industrial companies, the port has formed a complete industrial chain from fishing to processing.
