In August, the Golden Bell Fruit base in Zhenjiang Town, Gaozhou City, Maoming City, ushers in a bumper harvest. Golden fruits hang heavily on the branches, weighing them down.

Golden Bell Fruit, also known as "Golden Fruit," is native to the upper reaches of the Amazon River in South America. It was introduced to Taiwan, China, in the 1980s, and later to Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and other regions on the Chinese mainland. When ripe, the fruit has a golden-yellow rind and translucent, milky-white, jelly-like flesh. Rich in vitamin C and amino acids, it boasts a sweet taste and is loved by many consumers.

In 2022, Gaozhou Xiguo Agricultural Planting Co., Ltd. introduced Golden Bell Fruit and built an approximately 33-acre planting base in Zhenjiang Town, Gaozhou City. Located in a tropical climate zone, the base enjoys mild weather and abundant rainfall, providing superior natural conditions for the growth of Golden Bell Fruit.

Lin Danting, the person in charge of the base, stated that Golden Bell Fruits are relatively large, with a single fruit usually weighing over 500 grams. The estimated output this year reaches 20 tons, and even with a retail price of 90 yuan per kilogram, the supply falls short of demand.

With stable fruit quality, the base has also launched a seedling business. Lin Danting noted that the Golden Bell Fruit seedlings cultivated here have been sold to Fujian, Hainan, and other provinces. Additionally, villages and towns in Yangjiang, Foshan, and other cities within Guangdong Province have begun to introduce and plant the seedlings. Over 2,000 seedlings introduced and cultivated by nearby towns have borne fruit and been put on the market this year, enjoying brisk sales.
