With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, a Swiss blogger behind the Xiaohongshu account Chen Kaixin and Fei Lipu (陈开心和费离谱) was recently invited to a wedding in the Swiss Alps. He hiked to the venue carrying a token of Chinese goodwill in his backpack — a ham and five-nut mooncake larger than a human face.

At the wedding, the far-traveled mooncake was cut and shared, and the newlyweds and other guests praised its generous nut filling and flavor. The mooncake, a symbol of family reunion, echoed the wedding's theme of marital union. Video of the moment has since spread widely on social media.

The mooncake comes from Wuchuan, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, known as China's Hometown of Mooncakes. The ham and five-nut variety is an enduring classic, featuring a thin crust and a nut-packed filling that reflects the Lingnan custom of sharing happiness with guests.
In 2013, Wuchuan mooncake was granted national geographical indication product status. In the same year, Wuchuan mooncake-making craftsmanship was added to Guangdong's provincial intangible cultural heritage list.
