Global seafood industry players converge in Zhanjiang for 12th Guangdong aquaculture expo

The 12th Guangdong International Aquaculture Products Expo (GIAPE) opened on June 18 at the Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, drawing more than 400 exhibitors and more than 4,000 buyers from more than 20 countries and regions, including the European Union, the United States, Ecuador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Iran. Delegations from more than 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China also attended.

The 12th GIAPE draws a big crowd of exhibitors and buyers.

The three-day expo spans the full aquaculture and seafood supply chain, covering aquaculture,  fingerling breeding, seafood processing and circulation, equipment manufacturing, import and export trade, feed and additives, and supporting services. This year's event features international pavilions from Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Ecuador, showcasing specialty products from Belt and Road partner countries.

The expo showcases the latest innovations across the global aquaculture industry.

Organizers expect the expo will attract more than 30,000 trade visitors. Business matching sessions will facilitate supply-chain cooperation and unlock new investment opportunities for domestic and overseas buyers.

At the opening ceremony, China Agricultural Development Group Co., Ltd. and the Zhanjiang Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation memorandum. Five aquaculture enterprises, including Evergreen Foods and Songa, also signed supply and purchase agreements worth nearly 800 million yuan (about US$110 million) with domestic and foreign partners.

Since being permanently based in Zhanjiang in 2014, GIAPE has grown into one of China's leading seafood industry events. Alongside the expo, overseas chambers of commerce and business delegations from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the United States, and other countries will visit Zhanjiang's ports, industrial parks, small appliance industrial bases, and the Global Sourcing Center of Zhanjiang to seek deeper trade and investment cooperation.

International buyers take part in business negotiations.

This year's expo places special emphasis on international business services and cross-border business matchmaking, further strengthening Zhanjiang's position as a global hub for seafood processing and international trade.
