Guangzhou's coffee festivals brew up a busy May Day holiday

From parks and historic districts to international coffee fairs, Guangzhou is going to turn into a giant coffee map. During the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, Guangzhou will host a series of coffee-themed events across multiple districts, turning the city into a destination for coffee lovers and leisure seekers.

 

Known as one of China's most coffee-friendly cities, Guangzhou is now home to more than 8,000 coffee shops and consumes over two million cups of coffee every day. Coffee culture has become deeply embedded in urban life, blending with shopping, tourism and social experiences.

Baiyun: Coffee Meets Music and Camping

From May 1 to 5, the Baiyun International Music & Food Carnival and "Coffee in Baiyun" Culture Festival will take place at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. The event combines coffee, food, live performances, camping and outdoor experiences, creating a city-based holiday retreat.

Tianhe: Flavors from 11 Countries and 30 Cities

The 2026 Guangzhou Coffee Culture Fair in Tianhe Sports Center South Square will bring together coffee brands from 11 countries and 30 cities. Visitors can explore flavors from Europe, Southeast Asia and China while enjoying competitions, creative showcases and live entertainment.

Liuhua Lake Park: A Relaxed Coffee Escape

Liuhua Lake Park's coffee culture event offers a slower pace, blending lakeside scenery with outdoor cafés and garden-style experiences.

Shamian: Coffee Amid Historic Architecture

On Shamian Island, cafés are integrated into century-old buildings and colonial-era streetscapes. Visitors can pair coffee tasting with photography, historic walks and traditional costume experiences.
