"Thai Street Vibes" festival opened in Guangzhou celebrating 50 years of Thailand-China ties

On August 30, the "Thai Street Vibes" festival, hosted by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, was launched at Beijing Road Commercial Pedestrian Street, Guangzhou. As part of the ongoing celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, the festival will run through August 31.

The festival offers visitors an immersive Thai cultural experience from 11:00 to 20:00 daily. Visitors can explore over 30 stalls featuring authentic Thai street food, beverages, rice, sauces, and snacks, alongside traditional performances including Muay Thai demonstrations and classical dance. Thai pop artists Mintty and ChaiKlang will also hold special concerts, and interactive sessions such as DIY handicraft workshops and Thai cooking classes are highlights.

In his opening address, Mr. Kajtiti Wiwatwanont, Consul-General of Thailand in Guangzhou, emphasized the festival's significance within the broader context of the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations. He stated, "It is a great pleasure for me to welcome all of you to 'Thai Street Vibes' here at Beijing Road. Guangzhou's historical and present importance as a key global hub for economic and cultural exchange makes it the perfect home for this event."

Reflecting on the cultural bonds between the two nations, the Consul-General added, "Thailand and China are strategic partners. This special relationship is built on the friendship and deep understanding between our peoples, underlined by the notion of 'China and Thailand being one family.'"

He hopes that this occasion will provide visitors with an experience that strengthens the comprehension and connection between the two peoples. He also highlighted the blend of traditional and contemporary elements within the festival, noting its role in showcasing Thailand's creative economy and cultural innovation in Southern China.

The Consul-General noted that "Thai Street Vibes" reflects both traditional Thai elements cherished by the Chinese public and new dimensions of Thai creative economy and culture. A special exhibition commemorating 50 years of Thailand-China diplomatic relations is also featured, illustrating the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
