2026 Dongguan Longwan Lantern Festival to open on January 31

The 2026 Dongguan Longwan Lantern Festival will open on January 31 and run until March 3, offering locals and tourists a spectacular celebration of light and traditional culture.

Featuring 11 large-scale themed lantern installations, the festival stretches along Wandao Road (万道路), connecting Longwan Outlets (龙湾奥特莱斯) and South China MALL (华南MALL). Blending traditional lantern craftsmanship with modern design, the displays create an immersive festive atmosphere. Each lantern is uniquely designed, ranging from elegant festive scenes to grand dragon-shaped installations, perfect for viewing and photography both day and night.

Complementing the lantern displays, a wide range of cultural performances and activities will be staged at both venues. At Longwan Outlets, visitors can enjoy dragon and lion dances, fish-lantern shows, calligraphy blessing activities, and interactions with performers in traditional attire. South China MALL will host diverse programs such as Yingge dance, Chinese animation-themed electronic music concerts, and Sichuan opera face-changing, along with a Spring Festival market featuring more than 50 stalls.

Artistic lighting displays and photo spots line the route, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Visitors spending 588 yuan or more at designated merchants can enter a daily lucky draw, with two entries for purchases of 1,288 yuan or above. Prizes are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Come to visit the Dongguan Longwan Lantern Festival and enjoy a dazzling Spring Festival where glowing lanterns, tradition, and modern entertainment come together!
