GBA New Year Shopping Carnival to light up Guangzhou on January 25

A vibrant New Year shopping and cultural carnival will open on January 25, 2026, at Haixinsha in Guangzhou, bringing together Guangdong-made products, Lingnan traditions, and immersive holiday experiences to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Set along the Pearl River, the carnival blends festive performances, curated markets, and interactive showcases, offering visitors an engaging way to experience how South China celebrates the season of reunion and renewal.

The opening night will feature appearances by Xi Yangyang and Le Rongtong, the famous mascots of the 15th National Games of China. High-energy Lingnan drum performances will set a celebratory tone. Well-known cultural scholars will also join the event, sharing stories of Guangdong's long history as a trading hub and the cultural roots behind Lingnan commerce.

One of the main attractions is the Chinese New Year-themed market, designed as a walk-through festival space with seven curated sections. Visitors can explore rural specialties, Cantonese flavors, intangible cultural heritage crafts, family-friendly products, wellness and hot spring packages, outdoor lifestyle items, and services tailored for older travelers. From traditional foods and local agricultural products to creative souvenirs and holiday experiences, the market brings together everything from "what to eat" to "where to go" for the Chinese New Year season.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, come explore the shopping carnival and take home a small taste of the Chinese New Year.
