A major coffee-themed cultural market will be held this weekend, from November 28 to 30, in Kaiping's Tangkou Town in Jiangmen, Guangdong. The event combines a professional barista competition with public activities, including tasting sessions, hands-on workshops, and cultural displays.

The market is part of the 2025 Guangdong Provincial Barista Vocational Skills Competition and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Barista Exchange. It will be centered at the "Tianxia Liangcang" (literally meaning the world's granaries) Square in Tangkou Town, with additional activities at the nearby Tangkou Town Cultural Tourism Entrepreneurship Incubation Base.
Key activities for visitors
Coffee Skills Demo (Nov 28-30, 9:00-20:00): An exhibition will trace the coffee production process "from seed to cup," covering planting, processing, roasting, and brewing, with live demonstrations.
Free Hand-Brew Workshops (Nov 29-30, 10:00-18:00): Short, introductory classes will be held daily. Five 30-minute sessions are scheduled each day (10:00, 11:30, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00). Class sizes are small (8-10 people), and registration is required on-site at least 30 minutes in advance.
Champion's Latte Art Session (Nov 29, 9:00-12:00): Lu Daoqiang, the national latte art champion, will lead a session on coffee-making techniques and latte art basics at the Cultural Tourism Entrepreneurship Incubation Base. The session requires real-name registration and is limited to 40 participants.
"Find Your Favorite Coffee Spot" Campaign (Nov 28-30): An interactive activity encouraging visitors to explore local cafes, vote for their favorites, and receive discounts or gifts.
Coffee Culture & Crafts Market (Nov 28-30, 9:00-18:00): Featuring displays of historical coffee utensils, posters, and non-traditional crafts at the incubation base's second-floor exhibition hall.
Coffee and Related Products Display (Nov 28-30, 9:00-20:00): An area to sample and purchase coffee beans, instant products, and complementary snacks.
