Ready to dive into the excitement? The 2026 Shenzhen Dragon Boat Cultural Carnival has officially arrived! This is far more than just a race. As Shenzhen prepares to host APEC 2026, this carnival serves as a high-energy cultural prelude, showing Shenzhen's unique blend of passion, modern trends, and competitive spirit to the world.

From Futian to Dapeng, six major competitions are ready to roar to life. Here is your ultimate guide to the six "hot" zones of dragon boat racing, markets, and summer festivities!

1. Longhua District

2026 Guanlan River Dragon Boat Race

Get ready for a spectacular fusion of sports, technology, and delicious food! The Longhua race will see 45 domestic and international teams battling it out on the water. Beyond the racing, expect a visual feast: traditional dragon and kylin dances, the heritage-rich Aoyu (maculate fish) performance, and mind-blowing "water-floating" stunts. Keep an eye out for the iconic CCTV Spring Festival Gala robots performing tai chi!

After the action, head to the Shiji Square, which will transform into a vibrant Dragon Boat Market with 60 stalls featuring sports, travel, and a special must-eat list section curated by Dianping, China's equivalent to Yelp.

Where: Guanlan River between the district government bridge and Renmin Bridge, Longhua

2. Longgang District

2026 Longgang Dragon Boat Invitational

Longgang integrates international flair with AI-powered tourism at this year's dragon boat invitational. Competitors from APEC member economies, including Malaysia and Singapore, will go head-to-head with top teams from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Adjacent to the races, the Longyuan area will host a Dragon Boat Carnival featuring interactive tech games, cultural performances, a traditional market, and a stamp-collecting adventure.

Where: Longgang River between Huilong Bridge and Funing Bridge

3. Dapeng New Area

2026 GBA (Shenzhen Nan'ao) Maritime Dragon Boat Carnival

Watch dragon boat teams from 11 GBA cities and across the Asia-Pacific compete on the open sea. Immerse yourself in local intangible cultural heritage, including the grass dragon dance and traditional fishermen's weddings. The event also features water tech shows and a marine technology exhibition. For the ultimate experience, you can rent a yacht to watch the races directly from the water.

Where: Moon Bay, Nan'ao, Dapeng Peninsula

4. Futian District 

2026 GBA Dragon Boat Invitational

Known as the city's most futuristic Dragon Boat Festival race, the event will feature 24 teams, including international participants and scientific research groups, competing on the Xinzhou River. Highlights include a performance by "Lightening" the robot and a traditional Aoyu parade. With an all-day AI-themed carnival extending into the night, the waterfront cultural events are expected to offer a truly futuristic urban festival vibe.

Where: The Yangjihui section of the Xinzhou River, Futian

5. Nanshan District 

2026 Dasha River International Dragon Boat Invitational

Prepare for a high-stake showdown between Chinese and international teams, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dasha River Ecological Corridor—renowned as one of Guangdong's most beautiful river landscapes. Spectators can also enjoy traditional Lingnan cultural performances along the riverbanks.

2026 Beautiful Village Dragon Boat Super Invitational
