Guangzhou Int'l Light Festival in November coincides with National Games

The Guangzhou International Light Festival, one of the world's major lighting events, is scheduled to run from November 16 to 26 this year, coinciding with the 15th National Games of China and another significant event—the 32nd Guangzhou Garden Expo.

For the first time, Guangzhou's iconic landscape, including Canton Tower, CTF Finance Centre, and IFC, will synchronize a grand light show, creating a stunning visual centerpiece for the festival. The event will feature 36 light art installations across the city's new central axis (including Haixinsha Island and Huacheng Square) and the Pearl River waterfront, where 24 buildings will become dynamic displays of animation and projection.

A key highlight is the integration of technology and interaction. Installations will use AIGC and interactive projections to make spectators part of the artwork, while some exhibits will blend sports themes with light design, echoing the spirit of the National Games. By day, visitors can enjoy garden displays from the Garden Expo; by night, 30 performances, ranging from acrobatics to digital magic, will animate the spaces.

Since its inception in 2011, the festival has attracted over 67 million visitors and gained recognition from UNESCO in 2015. It has also boosted the regional lighting industry, with 70% of China's stage lighting companies based in Guangdong.

Reservations for the 2025 Guangzhou International Light Festival will open on November 10 at 12:00 noon.
