Hengqin Port optimizes clearance for eligible international travelers

Hengqin Port, together with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port and Qingmao Port, will implement new clearance measures starting on August 18, 2026.

Under the new measures, foreign nationals and Taiwan residents who meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to drive through the joint one-stop vehicle lanes at Hengqin Port. To qualify, they must first complete the registration procedures for the express clearance lanes with the Chinese mainland and Macao immigration authorities.

Eligible foreign travelers include those holding a foreign passport and a Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card; those with a foreign e-passport and either a residence permit valid for more than 6 months or a multiple-entry Chinese visa valid for more than 6 months, provided they also meet the conditions for multiple entries into Macao. Eligible Taiwan residents are those who hold a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents valid for 5 years.

Macao residents and Hong Kong permanent residents traveling from the Chinese mainland to Macao now have multiple clearance options. These include automated immigration channels at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port, Hengqin Port and Qingmao Port, as well as the joint one-stop vehicle lanes at Hengqin Port. For these routes, they may now choose to present either their Hong Kong or Macao identity cards or their Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (including those for non-Chinese nationals). For both entry and exit directions, they may use the Home Return Permit.

Chinese citizens with a one-year multiple-entry Exit and Entry Permit of China can use the automated clearance channels in the passenger inspection halls at the Zhuhai Land Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Hengqin Port. To qualify, they must first complete registration procedures for the express clearance lanes with the Chinese mainland and Macao immigration authorities. The service is available only at the ports where they have registered.

The immigration authorities remind all eligible travelers to complete the registration procedures with the Chinese mainland and Macao immigration authorities in advance as required. For any policy-related questions, they may call the 12367 service hotline.
