During Chinese New Year, families across China try to include a wide variety of foods to symbolize prosperity and a rich life. However, the foods people choose can vary greatly from region to region. In eastern Guangdong's Chaoshan area, known for its rich culinary traditions, the flavors of the New Year are especially distinctive.
This Chinese New Year, Montgomery, an Ecuadorian student studying at Jinan University, ventured to Jieyang in Chaoshan to explore the city's most authentic New Year tastes.
