The University of Macau (UM) will launch its 45th anniversary celebrations this Sunday (January 11), featuring a campus-wide open day and the first public access to its temporary teaching facilities in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The anniversary launch ceremony will take place at 11:00 am, followed by an open day running until 5:00 pm. The event is open to the public and aims to showcase the university's academic development, research strengths, and campus life.

For the first time, visitors will be able to access the University of Macau's transitional teaching site in Hengqin, alongside activities at the Zhuhai University of Macau Science and Technology Research Institute. Both locations will host admissions briefings, research presentations, alumni exchanges, and hands-on experiences.

At the main Taipa campus, UM has scheduled around 250 on-site activities throughout the day. These include admissions talks for prospective students and parents, faculty consultations, academic and science lectures, laboratory visits, sports facility experiences, interactive booths, workshops, and cultural performances. Guided campus tours and quiz activities will also be held, while campus dining outlets and shops will offer special discounts.

The University of Macau was ranked 285th in the QS World University Rankings for 2026. Sixteen of its disciplines are listed in the top 1% globally in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database. UM currently offers more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programs across disciplines including business, finance, science, engineering, computer science, law, education, biomedicine, communication, social sciences, and traditional Chinese medicine.
