CityUHK (DG) holds its first graduation ceremony

On June 22, the 2026 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferment Ceremony of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) were held at CityUHK in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. Over 420 graduates from CityUHK (DG) were awarded degrees by CityUHK, embarking on new chapters in their lives. Distinguished guests from government, academia, and industry, together with graduates' family members and friends, witnessed this historic moment.

During the degree conferment session, graduate representatives from six majors took the stage one after another: Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology, Electronic Information Engineering, Engineering Management, Computer Science, Data Science, and Business Information Systems. This event marked the official conferral of Master of Science degrees by CityUHK, signifying that the first cohort of master's graduates was set to step out of the campus and pursue careers on the industrial front lines, in cutting-edge research fields, and in broader society.

To date, most of the 2026 master's graduates have secured high-quality job opportunities across major private enterprises, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, and research institutions. These positions are concentrated in several core industrial sectors. Top technology firms include Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, and ByteDance; advanced manufacturing and new energy enterprises include CATL, OPPO, and ZTE; renowned communications, energy, and financial corporations include China Mobile, China Unicom, State Grid Corporation of China, and CMB Network Technology. Besides, some graduates have obtained IANG visas to work in Hong Kong. Others have chosen to pursue further study at prestigious universities, both at home and abroad, such as Nanyang Technological University, City University of Hong Kong, Fudan University, and Harbin Institute of Technology. Furthermore, a number of graduates have joined start-ups or embarked on entrepreneurial journeys through the HK Tech 300 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which offers a multi-million-yuan prize pool.

Since its approval and establishment in 2024, CityUHK (DG) has made remarkable progress, transitioning from its founding to initial maturity within just two years. Moving forward, CityUHK (DG) will continue to leverage the academic strengths of CityUHK, a world top-100 university, to provide students with more access to international resources and industrial frontiers. CityUHK (DG) aims to evolve into a key talent powerhouse for the international science and innovation hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
